Church hierarchs in Jerusalem on Sunday, February 25, closed the
Church of the Holy Sepulcher (the Church of the Resurrection of
Christ) indefinitely, which is the main shrine of Christianity and a
place of pilgrimage for tourists from all over the world.
В
необычно жестко сформулированном письме иерархи
греко-католической и армянской церквей пояснили, что пошли на этот шаг в
знак протеста против "систематической кампании против церквей и
христианской общины в Святой земле".
In an unusually rigidly worded letter, the hierarchs of the Greek, Catholic and Armenian churches explained that they took
this step in protest against the "systematic campaign against the churches and the Christian community in the Holy Land."

в частности законопроект, позволяющий израильскому государству конфисковать принадлежащие церкви земельные участки.
They noted that the indignation of Christians is caused, in particular, by a bill allowing the Israeli state to confiscate
the land belonging to the church.

This bill on Sunday will be discussed at a meeting of the ministerial committee, after which it will be forwarded to the Knesset
for approval.

the letter of the church hierarchs, the draft law is called "discriminatory and racist".
Израиль "попирает ногами сохраняющиеся уже многие
десятилетия чувствительные отношения между христианской общиной и властями", - подчеркивается в послании.
Israel "is trampling on the sensitive relations that have existed for many decades between the Christian community and the
authorities," the message says.
Церковь также протестует против введения муниципальных
пошлин, которые, по ее мнению, нарушают статус-кво.
The church also protests against the introduction of municipal duties, which, in its opinion, violate the status quo.

It
seems that these actions are aimed at "weakening the Christian presence in Jerusalem," the authors of the letter indicate.
Городская

The
city administration of Jerusalem in its justification declares that the
