A reflection  on God's wonderous creation, and on we humans, made in His holy image, and our responsibility to be stewards/caregivers  of God's creation and His creatures.

From Holy Scripture:
"God Is LOVE, and He created all in LOVE".
"For His mercy is upon all that He hath created".
"Man and beast, Thou savest Lord!"
"He giveth food to the young ravens that cry".
"For all things work together for good, for all those who love God".
and:
"Blessed are the merciful..... for they shall obtain mercy!".

THE ASCENSION OF OUR LORD

TROPARION
Thou hast ascended in glory, O Christ our God, bringing joy to Thy disciples, for Thou didst reassure them through Thy blessing of the promise of the Holy Spirit. For Thou art the Son of God, the redeemer of the world.

KONTAKION
When Thou didst fulfil Thy dispensation for our sakes, and united the things on earth with the things in heaven, Thou didst ascend in glory, O Christ our God, in no way divided, but remaining inseparable, and crying to those that love Thee ‘I am with you and no one shall be against you.

Sermon, in Russian, by ROCOR Vladyka Metropolitan Agafangel, on Christ's Holy Ascension:

Проповедь митрополита Агафангела в Праздник Вознесения Господнего. Архангело-Михайловский храм, Одесса, 28 мая 2020 года.

Christ has ascended!  He has ascended in glory!
Bless! From the Oropos & Fili website, a short piece on
The Ascension of Our Lord

Russian icon The Ascension of the Lord, XIX century – Svyat
Sermon on the Holy Ascension of Christ, by Saint Gregory of Nyssa,
(circa 330-395 A.D.-younger brother of St. Basil the Great).

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me".

The Gospel describes the Lord’s life upon earth and his return to heaven. But the sublime prophet David, as though unencumbered by the weight of his body, rose above himself to mingle with the heavenly powers and record for us their words as they accompanied the Master when he came down from heaven. Ordering the angels on earth entrusted with the care of human life to raise the gates, they cried: “Lift up your gates, you princes; be lifted up you everlasting doors. Let the King of glory enter.”

But because wherever he is he who contains all things in himself makes himself like those who receive him, not only becoming a man among human beings, but also when among angels conforming his nature to theirs, the gatekeepers asked: “Who is this King of glory?”

He is the strong one, they were told, mighty in battle, the one who is to grapple with and overthrow the captor of the human race who has the power of death. When this last enemy has been destroyed, he will restore us to freedom and peace.

Now the mystery of Christ’s death is fulfilled, victory is won, and the cross, the sign of triumph, is raised on high. He who gives us the noble gifts of life and a kingdom has ascended into heaven, “leading captivity captive.” Therefore the same command is repeated.

Once more the gates of heaven must open for him. Our guardian angels, who have now become his escorts, order them to be flung wide so that he may enter and regain his former glory.

But he is not recognized in the soiled garments of our life, in clothes reddened by the winepress of human sin.

Again the escorting angels are asked: “Who is this King of glory?”
The answer is no longer, “The strong one, mighty in battle” but, “The lord of hosts,” he who has gained power over the whole universe, who has recapitulated all things in himself, who is above all things, who has restored all creation to its former state: “He is the King of glory.”

You see how much David has added to our joy in this feast and contributed to the gladness of the Church. Therefore as far as we can let us imitate the prophet by our love for God, by gentleness and by patience with those who hate us.

Let the prophet’s teaching help us to live in a way pleasing to God in Christ Jesus our Lord, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
(Sermon on the Ascension: Jaeger 9, 1, 323-327)

Gregory of Nyssa
(c.330-395), the younger brother of Basil the Great, chose a secular career and married. Reluctantly, however, in 371, he received episcopal ordination and became bishop of Nyssa, an unimportant town in Basil’s metropolitan district of Caesarea.

Gregory was the greatest speculative theologian of the three Cappadocian Fathers, and the first after Origen to attempt a systematic presentation of the Christian faith.

Gifted spiritually as well as intellectually, he has been called “the father of Christian mysticism.” His spiritual interpretation of Scripture shows the influence of Origen.

 CHRIST  IS  RISEN!

Sunday of the Blind Man
Kontakion, Tone 4: Blinded in the eyes of my soul, I draw nigh unto Thee, O Christ,
like the man blind from his birth,
and in repentance I cry to Thee:
Thou art the exceeding radiant Light of those in darkness.
Prayer Before Reading Scripture
O Lord Jesus Christ, open Thou the eyes of my heart, that I may hear
Thy word and understand and do Thy will,
for I am a sojourner upon the earth.  Hide not Thy commandments
from me, but open mine eyes,
that I may receive the wonders of Thy law.  Speak unto me the hidden
and secret things of Thy wisdom.
On Thee do I set my hope, O my God, that Thou shalt enlighten
my mind and understanding with the
light of Thy knowledge, not only to cherish those things which
are written, but to do them; that in
reading the lives and sayings of the saints I may not sin, but that
such may serve for my restoration
, enlightenment and sanctification, for the salvation of my soul,
and the inheritance of life everlasting.
For Thou art the enlightenment of those who lie in darkness,
and from Thee cometh every good deed

and every gift. Amen

Saint John Chrysostom

Troparion of the Resurrection. Fifth Tone.

Let us, O faithful, praise and worship the Word Who is co-unoriginate
with the Father and the Spirit,
and Who was born of the Virgin for our salvation; for He was pleased
to ascend the Cross in the flesh
and to endure death, and to raise the dead by His glorious Resurrection
Kontakion of the Resurrection. Fifth Tone.
Unto Hades, O my Savior, didst Thou descend, and having broken its
gates as One omnipotent,
Thou, as Creator, didst raise up the dead together with Thyself.
And Thou didst break the
sting of death, and didst deliver Adam from the curse,
O Lover of mankind. Wherefore,
we all cry unto Thee: Save us, O Lord.

The Reading is from the Acts of the Apostles:

16:16-34

King James Version (KJV 1611)
16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel
possessed with a spirit of
divination met us, which brought her masters much gain
 by soothsaying:
17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying,
These men are the servants of the
most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved,
turned and said to the spirit,
I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to
come out of her. And he came
 out the same hour.
19 And when her masters saw that the hope of
 their gains was gone,

they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the
marketplace unto the rulers,
20 And brought them to the magistrates, saying,
These men, being Jews,
 do exceedingly trouble our city,
21 And teach customs, which are not lawful for us
 to receive, neither
to observe, being Romans.
22 And the multitude rose up together against them:
 and the magistrates
rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.
23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them,
they cast them into prison,
charging the jailor to keep them safely:
24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them
 into the inner prison,
and made their feet fast in the stocks.
25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed,
and sang praises unto God:
and the prisoners heard them.
26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake,
so that the foundations
of the prison were shaken: and immediately
all the doors were opened,
and every one's bands were loosed.
27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep,
 and seeing the
prison doors open, he drew out his sword,
and would have killed himself,
supposing that the prisoners had been fled.
28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm:
for we are all here.
29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling,
and fell down before Paul and Silas,
30 And brought them out, and said,
Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,
and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord,
and to all that were in his house.
33 And he took them the same hour of the night,
and washed their stripes;
and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.
34 And when he had brought them into his house,
 he set meat before them,
and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.
The Holy Gospel according to:

Saint John 9:1-38

King James Version (KJV 1611)

And as Jesus passed by, He saw a man which
was blind from his birth.
And His disciples asked Him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man,
or his parents, that he was born blind?
Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents:
but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
I must work the works of Him that sent Me, while it is day:
the night cometh, when no man can work.
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
When He had thus spoken, He spat on the ground,
and made clay of the spittle, and He anointed the eyes of
the blind man with the clay,
And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam,
(which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore,
and washed, and came seeing.
The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him
that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
10 Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?
11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay,
and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the
pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
12 Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
13 They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind.
14 And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay,
and opened his eyes.
15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight.
He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.
16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This Man is not of God,
because He keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said,
How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles?
And there was a division among them.
17 They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of Him,
that He hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind,
and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind?
how then doth he now see?
20 His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son,
and that he was born blind:
21 But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes,
we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews:
for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ,
he should be put out of the synagogue.
23 Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
24 Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him,
Give God the praise: we know that this Man is a sinner.
25 He answered and said, Whether He be a sinner or no,
I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
26 Then said they to him again, What did He to thee?
 how opened He thine eyes?
27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear:
wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be His disciples?
28 Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art His disciple;
but we are Moses' disciples.
29 We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this Fellow,
we know not from whence He is.
30 The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing,

that ye know not from whence He is, and yet He hath opened mine eyes.
31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God,
and doeth His will, him He heareth.
32 Since the world began was it not heard that any man
opened the eyes of one that was born blind.
33 If this man were not of God, He could do nothing.
34 They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether
born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him,
He said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
36 He answered and said, Who is He, Lord, that I might believe on Him?
37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen Him,
and it is He that talketh with thee.
38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped Him.
Glory to Thee, O Lord, glory to Thee!

Reader Daniel Sharing: Our ROCA Vladyka Metropolitan Agafangel ...

Vladyka Metropolitan Agafangel (Pashkovsky), sole canonical head of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad

Sobor 1981 Resolution

ROCOR: Resolution of the Bishops' Council of 1981

Author: Metropolitan Agafangel. Publication Date: May 20, 2020 . Category: ROCOR Archive
.

The Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, after hearing and taking note of the material presented to it by the Synod of Bishops on the development of the ecumenical movement and the wide participation in it of the Moscow Patriarchate, which completely submits to atheistic anti-christ authority, as well as the report on the growth of anti-christ principles in the world, defines:

1. In accordance with the prophecies of the Holy Scriptures and the interpretation of the Holy Fathers of the Church, it is certain that we are entering one of the apocalyptic periods of human history. In it, the forces of evil threaten to seize leadership around the world. Only repentance and the rebirth of the Orthodox Church in Russia can stop this process. The true Church is already in an undoubted minority, becoming the "little flock" predicted by the Savior. However, He also told Christians not to lose heart even when they survive to the last years of the existence of the world.

2. The destructive forces in the world are trying to cause general chaos and there may be a general world-war. In this case, for each diocese, the instructions of the Decree of His Holiness Patriarch Tikhon and the Holy Synod of November 7/20, 1920, with the obligatory commemoration of the name of our First Hierarch, would come into force.

3. Preserving the purity of Orthodoxy, we cannot have any fellowship with the Moscow Patriarchate, which is in full service of the atheist government, even if even some of its ministers are going to serve not onlyBelial-(the Devil)  but also Christ, which is incompatible according to the Apostle Paul. On the other hand, an expanding ecumenical communion between representatives of a number of Orthodox Churches with the Vatican in a so-called 'dialogue' is observed with alarm. With the goal of establishing full communion between them in the sacraments at all costs, the two sides of these negotiators, have actually entered into prayer communion with each other without accepting Orthodox teaching by the other side. This 'mutual communication'  is set as a goal, regardless of the absence of dogmatic consensus. Such an approach to the issue is Protestant, not Orthodox, and therefore cannot be assimilated by our Church.

4. If, meanwhile, we are informed that genuine faith is again awakening in different sections of the Russian population, then we do not have enough data to pray for those who are involved in this process when we offer prayers for the enlightenment and strengthening of those who join it. At the same time, we call upon God's blessing on those who, with fear of persecution, are removing themselves  from any compromise with the policy of godlessness embodied in the Moscow Patriarchate, which, like all its acts, we recognize as non-canonical and invalid.

Archpriest Victor Dobrov: A Mournful day on both the Russian and the Orthodox calendars

Author: Internet Cathedral. Publication Date: . Category: History of ROCOR .

On May 17, 2007, in the Moscow Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the 'Canonical Communion Act' was solemnly signed, which resulted in the premature unification of most of the Russian Church Abroad and the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.

This illegal, anti-conciliar act (committed in violation of the earlier Resolution of the All-Diaspora Council of 2006 and the corresponding Decree of the Council of Bishops) act of the bishop synod of Metropolitan  Laurus, is the result of many years of subversive activities by an active group of traitors-Uniates and MP agents, within the Russian Church Abroad.

The All-Diaspora Council of the ROCOR in 2006 determined by its Resolution, and the Bishops' Council of the ROCOR, which was held there  (in San Francisco, California, U.S.A.,) at the same time, approved and confirmed the conditions under which the Moscow Patriarchate could positively help  the restorative-process with it, by the ROCOR and which 'restoration of communion'  was projected to be  finally completed, at a future  common Council, between the two.

For the MP, the Church Abroad's  preliminary condition/demand for its future projected possible, co-communion  with the MP, was put forward: that the MP  make a complete cessation of its ecumenical activities: - the heresy anathematized in ROCOR in 1983, and in the Council Resolution which called it,  "a temptation, i.e. an obstacle to the salvation of  souls."

“... From the discussions at the 2006 ROCOR Council, it is clear that the participation of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in the World Council of Churches, is embarrassing among our Church Abroad clergy and flock. With heartache we asked the clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate to heed the plea of our flock for the speedy elimination of this temptation."

Since for the clergy and children of the ROCA, entering into communion with the heretical MP was not only a rejection of their own spiritual heritage and which act would put them under their own anathema-curse, but it was also a betrayal of Truth itself, as happened to Christ (with the betrayal and kiss of  Christ by Judas), once before in Gethsemane, so it also happened again on May 17, 2007 by the 'Act on Canonical Communion' of ROCOR's Metropolitan  Laurus and MP Patriarch Alexy II, which act  was immortalized by a mutual kiss.

The misfortune for the MP itself was in this act, this crime, sealed by the Kiss of Judas.

ROCOR was almost completely destroyed; and later, the  small remnant of grace under the omophorion of Metropolitan Agafangel (Pashkovsky)  experienced a further diminution, (by our unfortunate "Mountain View-Andronik Schism"), and the voice of truth was drowned out, which at least for almost a century appealed to the conscience throughout the entire Orthodox world and gave at least some hope for the future, to the best among the believers of the MP in the Russian Fatherland.

It is remarkable that the betrayal by the foreign bishops of the ROCOR (and if you think about it, the MP was betrayed by its own bishops, who, in the process of finding/inventing  a supposed common denominator/comparison/equivocation of their own MP's   heresies and betrayals, with the, in fact... canonical and pure doctrines of the ROCOR, which could potentially have ....IF IT HAD HAPPENED IN TRUTH AND REPENTANCE AND SINCERITY - which it did not, have really cleansed and renewed for the better, beyond recognition, their MP, even via this 're-union act',..... but this, unfortunately, didn’t! turn out to be an event spiritually so large-scale that it can even be labeled as eschatological, perhaps it even marked the beginning of the approaching End Times.

At the exact time of the signing of the 'Act on the Canonical Communion of the ROCA with the ROC MP', on May 17, 2007, in the holy city of Jerusalem in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, from Golgotha, on the other side where the head of Adam rests on a stone, (exactly where Christ died on His cross, and His blood had flowed unto it),  blood was witnessed trickling out of that stone, which was observed by those in the Holy Sepulcher. After that miraculous event, so that none of the pilgrims would touch the Divine Blood, the brethren installed a transparent protective partition there, and that miracle does not continue beyond that event till now.
