The Nave of the Cathedral is filling up with faithful- pilgrim-visitors- parishioners- visitors. The church eventually filled completely.    Veneration continued all weekend long   Our bells sang out loud due to the amazing job of bell ringer Dimitri Tchertkoff    St. John's Holy Oil St. John's Holy Oil is available online via a donation. In addition, it is also available at the HVC Candle Desk.   HVC Bookstore Check out the wide assortment and specials in our online HVC Bookstore.    Our Sisterhood was divided into several teams with split schedules to master the task of serving 500 meals.        We thank Black Bear Security for protecting the Cathedral's perimeter during the festivities, However, AFTER the security was called off, late Sunday, there was a car-“smash & grab” just outside the church.  This is a Monday 6am photo!! DUE TO SAN FRANCISCO’S GENERAL SEVERE BREAK-DOWN IN  BASIC LAW & ORDER: We attended a Police Town Hall meeting to hear the Commander declare that “smash & grabs” are the fault of the car owners (!), for leaving merchandise visible in their parked cars.    Starosta Blog-St John Celebration. Completely “full house’’ a first in this post- pandemic era. Fr. George Kaplanov announced, “offering Holy Communion from four chalices: - find the nearest one”  After the Liturgy, the entire congregation circled the Cathedral in a procession that was endless. Our HVC-Holy Virgin Cathedral  Choir was at its best-Thank You Vova!  We sent 700 prosfory to the Altar-Thank You Prosfornitsi! Post liturgy, Sisterhood offered a bountiful Lenten meal to all, amazing job-Thank You ladies!!! His Grace Theodosy, ROCOR/MP Bishop of Seattle, congratulated and thanked the clergy, Parish Warden, Sisterhood, Choir, and all present for this wondrous event. His Grace James, ROCOR/MP Bishop of Sonora, told us of a "previously unknown healing miracle" attributed to prayers of St John. September 30 will be the celebration of thirty years since the discovery of St John’s incorrupt relics. The event will be with +Metropolitan Nicholas, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad (i.e.ROCOR/MP) officiating. We thank Pavel & Julia Paramonov for conducting our livestream presentation. In case you don’t know, our livestream may be viewed the next day or even the next month!  St. John's Cart

     This cart represents some of the earthly works of St. John. According to firsthand accounts from genuine orphans in Shanghai, the boys would pull this cart through the business district while St. John visited individual stores. He would ask the store owners, "My orphans need food, please put some in the cart."

     Since there were no wealthy benefactors, feeding the numerous orphans was a daily struggle. This account comes from an orphan who was rescued by St. John as an abandoned infant.
