Chapter 24

Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulcher, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulcher.
And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:
And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?
He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
And they remembered his words,
And returned from the sepulcher, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.
10 It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and otherwomen that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.
11 And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.
12 Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulcher; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.
13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.
14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.
16 But their eyes were dimmed so that they should not know him.
17 And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?
18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?
19 And he said unto them, What things?And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:
20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.
21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.
22 Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulcher;
23 And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.
24 And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulcher, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.
25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.
29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.
30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.
31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.
32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,
34 Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.
35 And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.
36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.
41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?
42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.
43 And he took it, and did eat before them.
44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, andin the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
50 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.
51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
53 And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen



Glory to Thee, O Lord, Glory to Thee!

Troparia, Tone 2:
 "When Thou didst descend unto death, O Life Immortal, then didst Thou slay hades with the lightning  of Thy Divinity. And when Thou didst also raise the dead from the nethermost depths, all the Hosts of the heavens cried out: O Life-giver, Christ our God, GLORY TO THEE!"

And two other Troparia:
"The noble Joseph, taking Thine immaculate body down from the Tree, and having wrapped It in pure linen, and spices, laid It in a new tomb. But on the third day Thou didst arise, O Lord, granting to the world great mercy."

"Unto the myrrh-bearing women did the angel cry out as he stood by the tomb: Myrrh is meet for the dead, but Christ hath proved to be a stranger to corruption. But cry out: The Lord Is Risen! granting to the world great mercy!"

Сегодня экс-президент Южной Осетии Эдуард Кокойты прокомментировал «Эху Кавказа» выдачу югоосетинского паспорта епископу Амвросию Мефонскому.

Today, ex-President of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity commented on the Ekho-Kavkaz issuing a South Ossetian passport to Bishop Ambrose of Methon.

По словам политика, это было сделано, так как священнослужитель представлял аланскую церковь за рубежом.

According to the politician, he made this defense, of Bishop Ambrose, because the clergyman has importance, since he represents the Alanian church abroad.

Кокойты считает, что югоосетинские власти не должны были действовать в такой грубой форме в отношении человека, имеющего немалые заслуги перед Южной Осетией.

Kokoity believes that the South Ossetian authorities should not have acted in such a crude manner with respect to a man who has considerable merit in South Ossetia.

Today, the ex-President of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity said in a commentary of the Ekho-Kavkaz that the passport of South Ossetian citizen Amvrosiy Mefonsky was originally issued "at the urgent request of Bishop George Puhata, as he, Bishop Ambrose of Methone, represents our church abroad."

Бывший президент Южной Осетии прокомментировал действия властей республики, 18 апреля изъявших югоосетинский паспорт у Амвросия на КПП «Верхний Рук»:

The former president of South Ossetia commented on the recent actions of the republic's current authorities, who seized the South Ossetian passport from Bishop Ambrose on April 18 at the Verkhny Ruk checkpoint:
«…Власти не должны были действовать в такой грубой форме по отношению к человеку, имеющему немалые заслуги перед Южной Осетией… В этой ситуации надо действовать крайне аккуратно, чтобы не допустить раскола православных в республике и общества в целом.

 "... The authorities should not have acted in such a crude manner with respect to a man with considerable merits in South Ossetia ... In this situation, we must act very carefully to prevent a split in the Orthodox community and society as a whole.

 К религиозным чувствам людей надо относиться предельно деликатно, а грубое давление может лишь усилить взаимное отчуждение».

Religious feelings of people should be treated with utmost sensitivity, and using brute pressure can only strengthen mutual alienation. "

Спикер парламента Южной Осетии, председатель политсовета партии «Единая Осетия» Петр Гассиев ранее назвал действия пограничников правомерными.

The Speaker of the South Ossetian parliament, chairman of the political council of the party "United Ossetia" Petr Gassiev, earlier had called the actions of the border guards, 'lawful'.

 В интервью «Эху Кавказа» он отметил:

In an interview with Ekhu Kavkaz, he noted:

«Действительно, он возглавляет епархию, но опять же этот человек является гражданином Великобритании.

 "Indeed, Bishop Ambrose  heads the diocese, but also this person is a British citizen.

Депутат от Народной партии Амиран Дьяконов, член комиссии по вопросам гражданства, отмечает, что лишить человека гражданства может только суд:

An MP from the People's Party, Amiran Dyakonov, a member of the commission on citizenship, however, notes that only a court can deprive a person of his citizenship:

«До признания независимости РЮО выдавались вкладыши гражданства РЮО к паспортам СССР.

"Prior to the recognition of the independence of the RSO,['Republic of South Ossetia'] we issued inscriptions of the citizenship of the RSO to the passports of the USSR.[somehow connected to/dependent on,  the Russian Federation  passports]. 

Что же касается лишения паспорта гражданина, то лишить его гражданства может только суд.

But, as for the deprivation of the passport of a citizen, only the court can deprive him of his citizenship.

Наличие паспорта подразумевает наличие гражданства.

The presence of a passport implies the existence of citizenship.

Согласно закону «О гражданстве РЮО» суд может лишить лица гражданства, если данное лицо при получении паспорта использовало поддельные документы или предоставило неполный пакет документов.

According to the Law on Citizenship of the RSO, a court can deprive a person of citizenship, if the person used fake documents or provided an incomplete package of documents when obtaining a passport.

Есть определенный перечень, который позволяют суду лишить гражданства.

There is a certain list [of exceptions]  that allows the court to deprive citizenship.

Наличие иностранного гражданства, кроме российского, уже является основанием для лишения лица югоосетинского гражданства».

The presence of foreign citizenship, except for Russian, is already the basis for depriving a person of South Ossetian citizenship. "

Дьяконов также говорит о правовой коллизии в югоосетинском законодательстве:

Dyakonov also spoke about a legal conflict in the South Ossetian legislation:

"Our legislation has a legal conflict.

Что я имею в виду?

What do I mean?

Президент имеет право принять в гражданство и вручить паспорт Республики Южная Осетия лицам, которые имеют особые заслуги перед народом Республики Южная Осетия.

The President has the right to give citizenship to, and to grant a passport of the Republic of South Ossetia, to persons who have special merits to the people of the Republic of South Ossetia.

Однако тот же самый закон прописывает, что двойное гражданство допускается только с Российской Федерацией.

However, the same law prescribes that: dual citizenship is allowed only with: the Russian Federation.

То, что правовая коллизия существует в данном случае, – это однозначно, и это надо решать».

The fact that there is a legal conflict in this case is [it may seem] to be unambiguous, and this must be resolved. "

Впрочем, сами власти нередко вручают паспорта не только российским гражданам, а, например, этническим осетинам из Турции и Сирии.

However, the authorities themselves often give passports not only to Russian citizens, but, for example, to ethnic Ossetians from Turkey and Syria.

There is a South Ossetian passport for US citizen Joe Mestas.

The editorial office has documents that the passport of the Republic of South Ossetia to Bishop Ambrose - Adrian Bayard ['Adrian Baird] - was issued by the Department of Internal Affairs of the city of Tskhinval on September 20, 2006.
