side American-observation:
Here in Makarovo, as is usual in virtually all of our churches in
Europe, etc. - the people are fully clothed with their heavy over-coats
and head protection on them,inside of the church!...a very surprising sight to we Americans, because
most if not all of our churches over there in Europe and Ukraine and Russia, etc. , i.e.
those outside of here, in our more prosperous America,
either have no heating at all, for the cold times of the year, or only
what is produced by the body-heat of the heavily clothed congregants
[usually all packed close together] and their
lite candles. Here we take for granted, as 'normal'- as 'expected'
our convenient & controllable central-heating systems, [which keep
us cool in the hot summer time, and warm in the cold wintertime]
in both our comfortable homes, our places of work, and in our churches - we are also used to... every bodily comfort and convenience when we go to church. In most worldly-Orthodox-jurisdiction churches in America, and in
all Protestant and Roman Catholic churches, they also provide
comfortable thick-padded pews to sit on, as the worshippers normally sit -to be entertained by the service,
for a large part of their services. Otherwise many of us pampered Americans would not go to...ANY....cold/unheated and uncomfortable churches. Certainly, however, such deprivation of bodily comforts, as here in winter-time Makarovo,
Ukraine, must inspire to more fervent prayer. Rd.

a moleben and the great water consecration.
