Sad news befell the Russian community in Lyon, France.  Потеря прихожанина всегда болезненно переживается, тем более, когда речь идёт о самом возрастном прихожанине, как это случилось у нас с кончиной Георгия Георгиевича Мусатова, скончавшегося ровно за месяц, день в день, до празднования своего 95-летия. The loss of a parishioner is always painfully experienced, especially when it comes to an honored age-old parishioner, as happened with the death of Georgy Georgievich Musatov, who died exactly a month, and one  day, before the celebration of his 95th birthday. Отпевание прошло особо молитвенно в нашем, и его, свято-Николаевском храме.  The funeral service was particularly prayerful in our, St. Nicholas Church. Гроб, с красивым осьмиконечным русским крестом, был покрыт Андреевским флагом, что придавало особую торжественность отпеванию. The coffin, with a beautiful eight-pointed Russian cross, was covered with St. Andrew's flag, which gave a special solemnity to the burial service. По окончании, старший сын и два внука поделились чувствами и воспоминаниями об усопшем и был дан обзор его долгого и насыщенного жизненного пути. At the end of the service,  the eldest son and two grandsons shared their feelings and memories of the deceased and gave an overview of his long and active  life. Георгий Георгиевич, родившйсяся 5 февраля 1923 года в Париже, был единственным сыном капитана II- ранга Георгия Александровича и внуком героя Русско-Японской Войны, также капитана II- ранга, старшего офицера броненосца «Адмирал Ушаков» Александра Александровича Мусатова. George Georgievich, born February 5, 1923 in Paris, was the only son of Captain II-rank, Georgy Alexandrovich and grandson of the hero of the Russo-Japanese War, also captain II- rank, senior officer of the battleship "Admiral Ushakov" Alexander Musatov. Поэтому захотелось поместить эту краткую заметку, чтобы эта грустная весть могла, благодаря интернету, дойти до исторической родины усопшего, где память его Деда по должному почитается в патриотических морских кругах. К нашей радости статья попала в нужные руки и таким образом Георгию Георгиевичу удалось, на склоне лет, найти, познакомиться и даже принять в Лионе дальнюю, доселе незнакомую, племянницу. To our delight, the article came into the attention of  the right people,  and thus Georgy Georgievich managed, in his declining years, to find, meet and even take in his Lyon's home,  a distant, hitherto unfamiliar, niece. Париж, Георгий Георгиевич призывается в Армию и в марте 1946 г., после демобилизации, он становится международным переводчиком в Берлине, где и знакомится со свое й будущей верной супругой, француженкой, которая, интересно отметить, также является дочерью морского офицера, но французского морского флота . In Paris, George Georgievich was drafted into the French Army and in March 1946, after demobilization, he became an international translator in Berlin, where he met his future faithful spouse, a French woman who, interesting to note, is also herself the daughter of a naval officer, but of the French navy . From 1950 to 1965, he served in Africa, mainly in the Congo, and he then was transferred to the north of France, to the city of Dunkirk, where the third largest seaport of France is located and where Georgy Georgievich was entrusted with being the head of the local branch of the firm until 1971. И тут он получает своё последнее назначение, в Лион, с миссией создать здесь Региональную Дирекцию фирмы. And then he got his last appointment, to Lyon, with the mission to create here the Regional Directorate of the firm. В 1983 г. выходит на пенсию и сближается с нашим свято-Николаевским приходом. In 1983, he retired and joined our St. Nicholas parish. А нас сблизило ещё и то, что предки наши были офицерами славного Российского Императорского Флота, а через наших предков, судьбы наши были связаны с Русско- Я понской В ойной. And we were also brought together by the fact that our ancestors were both officers of the glorious Russian Imperial Fleet, and through our ancestors, our destinies were connected with the Russo-Japanese war.  В летописях войны с Японией можно найти немало упоминаний об А.А. Then, there were heroic people like that! П о воспоминанию офицеров А.А. Regarding memories of the officers AA. Musakov:-  Мусатов отличался постоянным оптимизмом, ровным и выдержанным характером. Musatov was characterized by a constant optimism, and an even and consistent character. Приведём некоторые штрихи одного сослуживца , описывающего его последние минуты жизни, когда на мостике всё сметалось градом осколков и уцелеть было просто невозможным : «Никогда не забуду я спокойствия и полного самообладания, с каким держал себя в это время А. А. Мусатов. Here were some of the penned writings  of a colleague describing his last moments of life, when on the ship's bridge everything was swept away by a hail of shell fragments and it was simply impossible to survive: "I will never forget the peace and complete self-control with which AA Musatov kept himself at this time.  В кителе, с надетой поверх портупеей, с револьвером на боку, самым невозмутимым голосом отдавал он с мостика какие-то приказания плававшей за бортом команде и затем так же спокойно доложил командиру о положении судна.  In a tunic, with a sweater over his belt, with a revolver on his side, he gave, in  the most unruffled voice from the bridge, some orders to the crew floating behind him and then calmly reported to the commander about the position of the ship... Не спасся старший офицер, наш симпатичный Александр Александрович Мусатов. /.../ The senior officer, our sympathetic & loved  Alexander Aleksandrovich Musatov, was not saved. Простившись с ним в боевой рубке, я уже не встречал его более, и лишь из рассказа бывшего поблизости от него матроса Макарова узнали мы об его последних минутах. After saying good-bye to him in the battle-room, I did not meet him again anymore, and only from the recounting of Makarov, who was near him, we learned about his last minutes. Макаров говорил, что А. А. из рубки прошел к барказу, который хотя и был разбит, но все же мог оказать поддержку в воде, но когда «Ушаков» лег совсем на бок, барказ повалился и придавил собою Мусатова. Makarov said that A. A. from the logging-record went into the small row boat, which, although the ship itself was defeated, and sinking,  could still provide support in the water, but when the Ushakov lay completely on its side, the small boat fell on, and collapsed and crushed Musatov. Затем, по словам того же матроса, несчастный А. А. тщетно старался вытащить из кобуры револьвер, чтобы покончить с собою, но в этот момент броненосец перевернулся и Макаров очутился в воде, а когда потом всплыл, то старшего офицера уже более не видел, как не видел его и никто из команды». Then, in the words of the same sailor, the unfortunate AA tried in vain to pull a revolver out of his holster to do away with himself, but at that moment the battleship turned over and Makarov found himself in the water, and when he surfaced, the senior officer was no longer seen, as neither he nor any of the team saw him. Yes, in those old days,  old Russian officers died for "Faith, Tsar and Motherland" ... our George Georgievich, naturally, in a completely different situation, now,  gave his soul to God, but his death was no less remarkable, a purely Christian death. Я был в машине и получил телефонный звонок — его жена передаёт, что он хочет со мной встретиться.  I was in the car when I received a phone call - his wife told me that he wanted to meet with me. Я тут же, оставив все свои дела, отправился в кардиологический госпиталь, где он находился. I immediately left all my affairs, and went to the cardiological hospital where he was. Я некоторое время его не видел и конечно не мог не заметить сколько он за это время изменился. I had not physically seen him for some previous time, and of course, when I did see him in the hospital,  I could not help noticing how much he had changed during all that time. Он не только не говорил, но не мог испустить малейшего звука (с женой общался, нажимая на клавише мобильного телефона), но был в полном сознании, взгляд был светлый. He not only could  not speak, but he could not even emit the slightest sound (he communicated  with his wife by pressing a mobile phone keys), but he was fully conscious, and his gaze was bright. У меня с собой ничего не было и решил читать ему наизусть утренние молитвы и был поражён, как он внимательно следил. I had no service books  with me,  and so I decided to recite to him, from memory, morning prayers and I was amazed at how closely he attended them. . Каждый раз, как начиналась новая молитва, хоть и с трудом он убеждённо крестился.  Every time a new prayer began, he crossed himself, and with conviction. Пропел ему тропарь святителя Николая, Рождества Христова, до которого ему не удалось дожить.  We sang for him the troparions of St. Nicholas, and for the soon coming  Nativity of Christ-  which great feast he would not live to see or celebrate.. Он утвердительно покачивал головой и крестился.  He shook his head affirmatively and he crossed himself..  with conviction.  Потом, как мог и сумел говорил ему о загробной жизни. Then, as he could absorb it, I was able to speak to  him about the afterlife. Зате м стал вспоминать наши встречи и разговоры, как он мне показывал военную форму своего отца, которую он хранил у себя, как реликвию. Then he began to recall our past meetings and conversations, as he showed me the military form/award of his father, which he kept as a relic. Говорил ему о России, о Белой Эмиграции, о Русско- Я понской В ойне. I spoke to him about Russia, about the White Emigration, and about the Russo-Japanese war.. Он всё внимательно выслушивал, время от времени лицо просветлялось и смотрел благодарными глазами. He listened attentively, and from time to time his face enlightened and he gazed with grateful eyes. Я так пробыл с ним полтора часа и спустя менее суток, окружённый всей своей семьёй, женой, детьми, внуками он тихо, спокойно отошёл ко Господу. I stayed with him for an hour and a half and after less than 24 hours, surrounded by his  whole family, his wife, his children, and grandchildren, he quietly, calmly went to the Lord. К ак не вспомнить тут глубокие слова, однажды сказанные Государем перед фотографией броненосца «Адмирал Ушаков» : «Доблестный корабль ! We should not forget here, the profound words once spoken by the Emperor before the photograph of the battleship Admiral Ushakov: "O Valiant ship! … Нет, это не было поражение, это была победа духа» … То же самое можно сказать о кончине потомка героя : такая христианская смерть никак не поражение, а победа духа.  ... No, it was not a defeat, it was a victory of the spirit "... The same can be said about the repose of the hero's descendant: such a Christian death is not a defeat, but a victory of the spirit.
