With
valiant mind and the voice of theology, thou didst overthrow, O Wise
One, the arrogance of the Innovators, contending most excellently; thou
wast seen to be the glory of Hierarchs, O Chrysostomos, upholding to
the utmost the Faith of the Orthodox with irreproachable Confession and in Godly minded life.
* Avoiding the infelicitous and commmon translation of “προκατάλαβε” as “anticipate.”
The Greek original (composed by Metropolitan Cyprian the Younger of Oropos and Phyle):
------
The Most Reverend Chrysostomos, former
Archbishop and Metropolitan emeritus of Etna
