"The saints have found the fountain of life and the door of Paradise, may I also find the right way through repentance, O Lord!"

Christ is Risen!

A translation of the apolytikion of St. Chrysostomos the New (heretofore designated as, 'the Former Metropolitan of Phlorina'), rendered with greater attention to the poetic beauty of the hymn than forcing the text to fit the assigned Byzantine melody by rendering it in vulgar street language or some amateurish literal translation. St. Chrysostomos' Glorification (or the Proclamation of His Reckoning among the Saints) will take place in two weeks, on the Eve of the Sunday of the Samaritan Woman, and His Eminence, Bishop Auxentios will represent the Diocese of Etna and Portland at this sacred and historic event.

The apolytikion of St. Chrysostomos the New
Tone Four: "Make haste to our aid…”*

With valiant mind and the voice of theology, thou didst overthrow, O Wise One, the arrogance of the Innovators, contending most excellently; thou wast seen to be the glory of Hierarchs, O Chrysostomos, upholding to
the utmost the Faith of the Orthodox with irreproachable Confession and in Godly minded life.

* Avoiding the infelicitous and commmon translation of “προκατάλαβε” as “anticipate.”

The Greek original (composed by Metropolitan Cyprian the Younger of Oropos and Phyle):
