ROCOR traitors are true to their betrayal

Author: Metropolitan Agafangel. Publication date:August 02, 2022. Category: Moscow Patriarchate .

On July 25-26, a meeting of the Council of Bishops of the European Dioceses of ROCOR MP was held, consisting of four bishops, headed by Met. Mark. In their Pastoral Epistle, they wrote that war is bad, but because of this they are not going to break the unity with the MP. That is, just as they were faithful children of Patriarch Kirill, who supported the war in Ukraine, they remain so. Moreover, they called on their flock "in all lands" to be faithful to Patriarch Kirill "in their hearts" (ie, not out of fear, but out of conscience). This statement is made specifically to put an end to talk that Mark might go against the MP system. It cannot - Sergianism lives and triumphs in it.

ENGLISH EPISTLE:

To the all-honorable and reverend fathers, pious monastics and God-fearing faithful of the Church Abroad in Europe:

We, the archpastors of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, who are entrusted with the care of her two dioceses in Europe, greet you, our faithful flock, with the blessing of Almighty God and the host of saints of these lands and islands on which we serve. We are grateful to God for the opportunity to gather in the monastery of St. Job in Munich on July 25-26, 2022 at the first meeting of the conference of bishops in Europe of our Church Abroad, established last year by the Holy Synod and continuing the tradition dating back to the era of St. John the Wonderworker.

Remembering the words of the holy apostle that “Salvation is nearer to us now than when we believed,” and therefore “the hour has already come for us to wake up from sleep” (Rom. 13:11), we stand with you as witnesses of the Lord, who brought us all to saving faith in the true faith of His Church, and Who will give us the means to rise from the darkness of the world into new life. The bloodshed of war soaks the soil of our fathers' lands, and we sympathize with the anguish of our brothers and sisters, whose suffering should be our suffering, and helping them and saving them our deepest desire. We are deeply grateful for the response of our clergy and believers to our calls to help refugees from Ukraine and provide all kinds of help and support. However, we have to see further what a terrible price the war turns out to be; with sorrow we feel the rebirth of cultures, in which hatred becomes more commonplace, when suspicion and fear crowd out love and compassion; we see governments that pursue political interests more than peace and the good of their peoples; we note how moral and ethical corruption is growing all around us.

Therefore, we call on all of you, our faithful flock, to heed the admonition of the holy apostle: “Let us put off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light” (Rom 13:12). Only by rejecting sin do we find peace in Christ, and no matter how great the upheavals in the world around us, we are called to respond to them as Christians: knowing that the source of all darkness is the sin that lives in us, and that therefore the healing of the world - including even his most terrible conflicts - can only come from a life devoted to genuine repentance and the feat of holiness.

In these difficult times, we fervently pray that every Orthodox Christian entrusted to our archpastoral care will respond to the call of God to liken his life more and more to the life of His saints. The Church is our unshakable stronghold in this world: her truth never changes, her heart never fails, and her life never conforms to the whims of the world. Those fifteen or more European peoples that are part of our dioceses know many conflicts from their own history, but above all conflicts is the unity of the Church, and in times of trial we should not, in any case, deviate from this unity. [emphasis added ed. IP - i.e. in times of conflict one must not break with the enemies of God]. Regardless of our unworthiness, we will never shirk this task, we will preserve the fullness of this gift of unity within the autonomy of the Church Abroad. We call on the faithful in all our lands to cherish and preserve this unity and strengthen it in their hearts. Stand firm in the truth! Firmly and forever be established on the rock of the Church! And may the Lord bring healing to the world and salvation to our souls.

Assuring you of our prayers, we give you God's blessing,

+ Mark, Metropolitan of Berlin and Germany, Locum Tenens of the First Hierarch of ROCOR and Chairman of the Conference of Bishops in Europe

+ Irenaeus, Bishop of London and Western Europe, Deputy Chairman of the Conference of Bishops in Europe

+ Alexander, Bishop of Vevey, Vicar of the British and Western European Diocese

+ Job, Bishop of Stuttgart, Vicar of the German Diocese
