Here is presented a very long & complicated history of the Crimean  region and Ukrainian and Russian history, -perhaps way more historical information  than an average reader even wants or NEEDS to know!...yet to me, fascinating….and a key to better understanding the background for current horrendous events there.

And an added point: From other informed sources, the majority of Crimean Tartars still resident there on their original native territory, have testified that they were much better off and freer …and HAPPY,  as part of Ukraine, than they are now, since 2014,  under Putin’s oppressive occuping regime, which most of them DID NOT! FREELY WANT NOR VOTE FOR! Many of them fled to other parts of Ukraine, when Putin took over.
