Good Friday in Odessa: the believers go to worship the Shroud/Plaschanitsa

The penultimate day of Holy Week -  Good Friday - is the most mournful day of Lent, a day of mourning. This day is of the remembrance of the Passion of Christ. It was on a Friday, that Jesus Christ was tried, and He made His  Way of the Cross to Calvary, He endured the agony and He died on the cross.
The parishioners of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia in Odessa, came to the church of the Archangel Michael, to pray together with the Primate of ROCOR, Metropolitan Agafangel, and to bow down and venerate  the shroud. Their worship and prayers,  surrounded the plaschanitsa, as well as with white flowers.
In such a sad day, it  is considered inappropriate for  fun or  laughter.. From all this it follows that many believers even choose clothes of discreet colors and for this one day, they  minimize communication with others, trying to spend more time in mental prayer.

Physical work, too, should be avoided. On the day of these dramatic events of Great and Holy  Friday, it is  recalled that one needs to pay attention to one's spiritual experiences and to feel the tragedy of the fate of Christ, so as to meet Him even  more happier. on the  Great Resurrection Day,  later.
