Note: Before the Slavonic
liturgical text and ritual reforms [aimed at bringing Russian Empire's
Orthodox worship, its Typikon, into concord with the then known, 'correct',
mother Greek Churches usages, [mainly of the 1500's] of Russian Patriarch Nikon,
which quickly provoked the bloody
and terribly disastrous virtual civil war, the 'Old Believer
Schism',-splitting the Russian nation and people severely, and
which was made worse by the added violent enforcement
in all of Russia, of the westernizations instigated and ordered a bit
later, by Czar Peter I, this basic worship, its rituals and church
chanting, was what was normal Orthodox worship in most of the Russian
Empire, in both monasteries and in parish churches.
To today's Old Believers, when any of them may visit our ['Nikonian'} churches,
they see our current Orthodox worship...even as performed by we
traditionalist Orthodox, as...'impious' and 'unspiritual', compared
with what they practice in their churches- their 'Old Way'.
