The funeral service will be served at 12:00 after the funeral Liturgy in the Church of the Intercession in the village of Kongaz, Comrat region of the Republic of Moldova, on Saturday, October 28.

On October 28, in the Church of the Intercession, the funeral service for the newly deceased Hieromonk Sophrony was served by clergy of the Moldavian diocese: Archpriests Vasily Ikezli and Simeon Kaloev, Abbots Alexy (Kaloev), Nikolai (Zavyalov) and Glikeriy (Sula). With a large crowd of people, Fr. Sophrony was buried in the family plot of the cemetery.

A week ago, we learned the good news: a site was found and a decision was made to build a new monastery, and now one of the monks, Hieromonk Sophrony, was killed in a car accident.

Naturally, I didn’t know him, but I heard about him from our wonderful driver John.

He was 22 years old - from early childhood, from the age of 4, he was at the temple - first at the Intercession Church of the ROCOR in Kongaz (he himself was from Comrat, Gagauzia), and then at the Resurrection Monastery. A hard worker and a man of prayer, despite his young years. Kingdom of heaven!
