ROCOR: Mission Visit to the Philippines

The Primate of the Free Serbian Orthodox Church as part of the ROCOR Synod of Bishops, Bishop Christopher, accompanied by Archimandrite Simeon, has been making an archpastoral visit to missionary parishes in the Philippines since June 8, which began with a visit to the Cathedral of St. Nicholas in the city of Isulan. At the beginning of the visit, a group baptism by full immersion and a group wedding were performed.

ROCOR: Visit of Bishop Christopher to the Philippines 2023 (updated)

In continuation of the archpastoral visit, on the Sunday of All Saints, the primate of the Serbian Free Orthodox Church, His Grace Bishop Christopher, served in the Cathedral of St. Nicholas in Isulan in the Philippines.

Vladyka ordained Deacon Andrei to the rank of priest, and Subdeacon Peter to the rank of deacon. Archimandrite Simeon served with His Eminence.

 

The day before, on Saturday, June 10, at the Cathedral of St. Nicholas in New Egan, Isulan in the Philippines, an All-Night Vigil was served. After the service, in the evening, Archimandrite Simeon tonsured brother Linus, the spiritual child of Bishop Christopher, with the name Flavian, in honor of the Monk Flavian of Carthage.

 

On another day, Bishop Christopher ordained Subdeacon John (Inochario Guanzon) to the rank of deacon.

During an archpastoral visit to Orthodox parishes in the Philippines, the Primate of the Serbian Free Orthodox Church, His Grace Bishop Christopher, ordained and corrected the ordinations of seven new priests, five deacons, two subdeacons, and three readers. One monk was also tonsured into the cassock.

 

Bishop Christopher, administrator of the parishes of the Serbian Free Orthodox Church, in the Cathedral of St. Nicholas in Isulan, Philippines, served Divine Liturgy on Thursday (June 15) and Friday (June 16). On June 15, at the Divine Liturgy, Vladyka ordained Deacon John to the rank of presbyter, and Subdeacon Monk Flavian to the rank of hierodeacon.

 

On June 16, Vladyka Christopher tonsured a reader and consecrated Matthew a subdeacon at the hours before the Liturgy, and ordained him a deacon at the Divine Liturgy. Vladyka was co-served by Archimandrite Simeon, Archpriests Andrei and Peter, Priests Jacob, Bartholomew, Thomas, John, and Hierodeacon Flavian.
