Video, A CBS Documentary, A Visit to the Holy Mountain of Athos, Greece
Comment: From a non-Orthodox outsiders view (& from the CBS network), of Mt. Athos and of Orthodoxy, this is a rather good presentation, in fact, it is much better & more sympathetic than would usually be expected. Whatever honest ignorances are here expressed, are to be expected.

How can such a beautiful place produce such rotten fruit as the pseudo elders that are coming out of there today?
ReplyDeleteHow can such a beautiful monastery, Vatopedi, produce such rotten fruit as the pseudo-elder Ephraim?
What we don't see in this video, that I can't forget, is the persecuted monks of Esphigmenou. While these Vatopedi monks pray in peace, eat their fish, and visit their doctor; the persecuted monks are beaten, not even permitted to fish, and their medicines are confiscated.. By failing to confess along side their persecuted brothers, the Vatopedi monks become guilty as the persecutors. How can they speak of unseen warfare, and ignore the war they can see?
At minute 23 see the St. Nicholas icon. This was fished out of the sea and there was a oyster stuck in it. When the monk pulled out the oyster there was a voice. I forget what it said, but it may have indicated in what monastery it wanted to be placed.
