October 24, 18th Sunday after Pentecost, marks the anniversary of the death of His Grace Anfim/Anthimus, the former Bishop of Bessarabia. In the Men’s Holy Resurrection Monastery, in Moldova, after the Divine Liturgy, the clergy of the monastery - Hieromonks Glykeria and Sophroniy, together with the inhabitants and parishioners, prayed at the grave of Vladyka, the Litia/Memorial Prayers for the Departed, for the blessed repose of his soul. After the requiem, a memorial meal was offered to all, in his honor.

My personal comment:

Greatly respected and beloved by all, our big-hearted and devoted ROCOR Bishop Anfim (Anthimus) of Bessarabia, Moldova,  was recently unexpectedly taken from us by the Covid pandemic, and his quick passage from our midst is a great loss for his local flock in Moldova and for our entire world-wide  Russian Orthodox Church Abroad,  and as he was only 48 years of age. He greatly loved God and His saints, he greatly loved the Orthodox Church, and people, and he never ceased to build and beautify the houses of God, and to be a constant missionary for saving souls....even to far away Congo, Africa..

His very face radiated God's love, and his own.

He was the Gospel's image of what the leaders of our faith should be, a true humble follower and imitator of Our Lord Jesus Christ, He "Who gave himself for the life of the world".

Vladyka Anfim truly gave himself for his flock.

This very intelligent and learned scholar  was fluent in many languages, and

steeped in his knowledge and practice of the Orthodox Christian Way of Life.

He was, in short, The Good Bishop, The Good Shepherd of his flock....a true reflection of His Father in Heaven. He was "a man for all seasons".

He even in person reached out to some of the leaders of our

ROCOR's "Andronik-Mt. View" lamentable and totally unjustified schism here in North America, to appeal to them, in love, to return to our fold, but...they closed their ears and would not heed his loving appeal, as they also have not heeded this same appeal which our entire ROCOR Synod has repeatedly beseeched them so to do, for some years now.

They are thus in the end, the big losers, likely to be soon openly & proudly aligned with Moscow's KGB founded and still totally controlled Moscow Patriarchy and its true 'patriarch', Vladimir Putin..

Now, Heaven is the gainer  by his passage from us, but we still who are struggling in this transient life, are the losers, of one, next to our beloved Vladyka Metropolitan Agafangel, of our brightest and most out-going missionary bishops.

Dear newly departed to the Lord, beloved by all, Vladyka Anfim,

May God forgive all of your sins of your short life on earth, and may you indeed Rest With The Saints, and Memory Eternal, and we will not forget your short but blessed life nor your devotion to Christ's Holy Church.

Your loving smiling face, we will not forget. You were the candle which could not be hid under the bushel.

Clearly, you were too good, for God to allow you to continue in this sinful world, and so He has taken you to be with Him, as you were perfected in a short time, at your youthful age of only 48 years.

With a sense of mournful sadness and loss, yet with hope in the Resurrection, -which was the dedication of your monastery, and in which hope you daily lived,

  Bishop Anfim (Tudos Adrian Vasilievich), was born on June 14, 1973 in the Odessa region, Ukraine into a family of Orthodox Christians, was baptized in childhood.

 Higher education. 

 1991-1993 studied and graduated from the theological seminary in Romania in the city of Caransebes. 

 1993-1998 studied and graduated from the State University "Alexandru Ioann Cuza", in Romania in the city of Iasi, specializing in pastoral theology. 

 In 1994, while studying at the theological faculty, on September 14, he took monastic vows with the name Anfim in honor of the schema martyr  monk  Anfima, at the Chatatsuya Monastery, Romanian Church. 

  A year later, 1995, in May, on the feast day of St. Nicholas was ordained a deacon by Archbishop Vladimir (Kontoryanu), Chisinau and All Moldova, ROC MP, and on Pascha 1996 he was ordained a hieromonk by the same bishop. 

  On July 19, 1997 he was elevated to the rank of hegumen. 

1994-2000 he fulfilled the obedience of the  rector  of St. Trinity men's. monastery in the village of Rud, Dundushan region, Moldova. Also, he performed the duties of the Dean of the Rezinsky District. 

  In 2000, having learned the truth of the Church, he stopped communicating with the MP. Then he was spiritually nourished in the Romanian Old Calendar Orthodox Church. 

  In 2010 he was admitted to communion with the ROCOR, a cleric of the Bolgrad diocese and received the blessing of the ruling bishop to create a men's  monastic community and the beginning of the construction of the Resurrection men's monastery in the village of New Sagaidak, Chimislia region, Moldova. 

  From 09.11.2011 By the Synod of the ROCOR, the monastery's founder was appointed abbot-rector  of the Resurrection. Monastery. 

  On May 23, 2012, with the blessing of the ROCOR Synod, he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite. On the election of the pastoral conference of the Chisinau diocese and by decree of the extraordinary Council of Bishops (November 25-27, 2014), 

  On November 30, 2014 at the Resurrection Monastery, Moldova, he was ordained Bishop of Chimislia, vicar of the Chisinau diocese. 

  From 04/05/2017 - Bishop of Bessarabsky.

"1. But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and there shall no torment touch them.

 2. In the sight of the unwise they seemed to die: and their departure is taken for misery, 3. And their going from us to be utter destruction: but they are in peace. 4. For though they be punished in the sight of men, yet is their hope full of immortality. 5. Some of St. John's Orphans in San Francisco

St. Tikhon's orphanage, which was moved from Shanghai, was established in San Francisco in 1951.  I don't know when it closed, but St. John died in 1966.  So we can date the photo 1951—1966.

A small group of boys from the several hundreds of abandoned street orphans, both girls and boys, in Shanghai, China, that St. John rescued. These he was able to bring to America, to his St. Tikhon's Orphanage, in San Francisco.

Today, October 6, 2021, marks the 120th anniversary of the consecration of the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the 25th anniversary of the priesthood of its rector, Archpriest Alexander Ivashevich. By this day, the main altar was overhauled/renovated  and yesterday Fr. Alexander consecrated it so that services could be performed for the feast. The very holiday in honor of the consecration of the cathedral and the anniversary of the ordination of its rector will be celebrated on Sunday, October 10th. In the video, Archpriest Alexander returns to The Throne/ALTAR, the Antimensis, the Gospel, the Cross and everything else, after the re-consecration of the altar.

Does this surprising declaration mean that, NOW the evil mass murdering athiest Communists, “The butchers of the Russian people”,  are finally truly “repentant and reformed”, and that Stalin’s false Russian Church, his 1943 KGB creation, the uncanonical and INVALID & GRACELESS apostate Moscow Patriarchy, is…magically, THE CONTINUATION OF THE VALID & HISTORIC & HOLY & REAL RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH???

“O Lord! Save The God-fearing, and Hear US!”   And yes, to those many of us Americans who don’t know our own national history: the Democrat Party, was officially pro-slavery before and during the Civil War. …and indeed during “Re-Construction” it fought to restrict the new legal freedoms of the former Black slaves.  It was the Republican Party, led by Abraham Lincoln which was Abolitionist/Anti-Slavery, and which FREED THE SLAVES, and which SAVED THE UNION.  Way over  600,000 white soldiers, on both sides,  (but also many freed-black Union soldiers too) gave their lives in that massive bloody internecine war, which ended with Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, (—guaranteed by Union victory), freeing  the former black slaves, and which saved  the Union.  Plus after that terrible war, in addition to all of the dead, many thousands were physically severely wounded & disabled for life, (from both the Union and Confederate) sides and they could not function any longer in normal lives, in an age when if one did not have one’s full physical health, …it was hard to even survive at all, with only their  caring families to help them to exist, and when subsistence farming was the normal survival occupation of most Americans, or anyway a time when hard physical labor tasks were the daily norm for most, in both  north and south. [One of my own] ancestors, an immigrant, my great-grandfather,  — my Mother’s Mother’s Father, Johan Peter Kochems, a Prussian German of a large Prussian family, born in ”The Kingdom of Prussia, " in about 1832 or so, who in June of 1861 in Cleveland, Ohio, at his age of 29, SWORE HIS PERSONAL LOYALTY TO ABRAHAM LINCOLN, & he joined the “18th OHIO Volunteer Regimen” of the Union Army, as a blacksmith, to save the Union and to free the slaves: — he barely survived that war, and he returned with life-long severe physical injuries…. which negatively affected  his family, and kept them in degrees of poverty and a hard struggling existence for much of their lives.  Times back then, were hard in America. After our very bloody & tragic American Civil War, the Democrat Party was pro-Segregationist, and they corrupted the tragic & largely failed, post-Civil War, Reconstruction Era, (in which blacks actually lost many formerly gained, rights and freedoms),  and the Democrats and their allies, worked …for about 100 years or so, to continue to subjugate and to stop black people from having any civil liberties, including to vote or to hold public office, to own property,  to live where they wanted to, or to even learn how to READ and WRITE or to get any high quality education.  “Separate but Equal!” was the later pro-Segregationist Democrat Party’s phony disingenuiness motto in the 1950’s, and also, their leaders trumpeted: “Segregation Forever!” The terrorist organization, the despicable KKK was founded and operated by Democrats… in case anyone forgets that little fact of American history.  The all-white plutocrat smug Democrat politicians from southern states, were nicknamed, “Dixicrats!”….and they all worked to keep black Americans in a virtual slavery, and devoid of the right to vote or to prosper economically. Today, we are supposed to believe the massive fiction, that the Democrat Party is… NOW! Miraculously!... pro-black, and pro-minorities.  The evidence tells us very much otherwise.  Once, in the northern states, it was called, “The Party of the Working Man!” …which even back then, was a big lie.  It was always run by the fat-cat super rich class…. who are the people who CONTROL ALL WORLD ECONOMIES and ALL GOVERNMENTS!.. and these are the ones who run the American Democrat Party…. not.. “American Voters!”  We American masses have lost any and all control of our own government… long ago, and it seems unlikely that we can ever recover our once-control of it, or perhaps… of our own former freedoms. [Joseph Stalin put it so well: “IT DOES NOT MATTER…. WHO  VOTES, IT ONLY MATTERS…. WHO COUNTS THE VOTES!”] This turns out to be true of our current American corrupted political elections NOW, HERE! It is indeed, what the Democrat Party foisters and ALLOWS: TODAY!: Anarchist-pro-terrorist, and pro-leftist criminal violence: of  rioting, looting and robbing, arsonist burnings, and uncontrolled endless murders, drugs, and violence in our cities…. all of which cities… and many states too, are headed by “FAT-CAT” Democrat corrupt lying politicians.  When they face elections, they routinely STEAL and MAKE up false votes, as we saw they did in our last presidential stolen elections, and which they do IN ALL LOCAL ELECTIONS ALSO. PRO-TOTALITARIAN! and a big friend … and indeed, supporter! of all of our globalist leftist enemies…indeed, how many fat and smug VERY WEALTHY! Democrat politicians embedded in office for years and years, actually are paid employees of our foreign enemies, and very much in the dirty slimy mud SWAMP of what our American corrupt political system has sunk to. History seems to repeat itself, doesn’t it? Abraham Lincoln, today, would not support our current Democrat Party, just as he did not support it in his life.  It was evil and immoral then, and it still is now…. though now it is far more evil than it ever was in past years. It was the party of injustice and vested pro-privilage, and it still is. Just my simple honest testimony, of a ”white American”  person who once was a long-termed registered Democrat voter, but who now repents of that foolish and ignorant mistake,  and who has woken up! — PRAISE THE LORD! “THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE!” That is why, I fully support the true American Patriot, Donald J. Trump, and what ALL he has been working for: OUR AMERICAN ECONOMIC PROSPERITY and OUR AMERICAN FREEDOMS…. for ALL AMERICANS!... in truth, OUR SURVIVAL AS A FREE AMERICA! If this current exceedingly corrupt and power drunk, FAT-CAT yet MARXIST Democrat Party is not overturned and defeated, …on all levels of our American life, our America is lost.  I hope to see it outlawed, as a foreign enemy organization…. which it really is, in all truth.  Let all Democrat politicians …and their unrepentant and ignorant hypnotized mindless voters, move to Putin’s neo-soviet still non-free, KGB run Russia, or wonderful Red China… or how about to the comfortable and wonderful Marxist Paradise, The Peoples Democratic Republic of North Korea? UPDATE ON MONASTERY EVACUATION  19 hours ago

We are now on the ninth day of our evacuation from the St. Herman Monastery due to threat of fire. The Monastery of St. John of San Francisco, which is located in Manton, across the Sacramento valley from us, has graciously hosted us the entire time.

Firefighters in Platina have been working hard to create a fire break around our monastery. Today they did some controlled burns for that purpose. So far, the fire has been contained in Beegum Gorge, below the monastery. If it spreads toward our monastery, the firefighters will be prepared.

We thank all those who have been praying for us, and we ask for continued prayers, not only for us, but also for the heroic firefighters and for all those who have been adversely affected by the many wildfires (739 to be exact) that are now active in the USA, especially in the Western states.

 

From Bishop Gerasim today (8/25/2021):

It appears that the firefighters did some control burning at the top of the mountain where there is a wide bulldozer path to protect the monastery and to prevent the fire moving toward the town of Platina. Noble Ridge above Beegum Gorge has been burned but it seems that this is only the slope facing the Gorge. Fire containment is currently up to 73% from 51% last week. Apparently good news.
