About true humility, self-abasement, of those in authority

Reader Daniel Sharing

About true humility, self-abasement, of those in authority: The monastery's "Fool" making his expected comic welcome routine of profusely greeting "The Great & Super-Holy Abbot!"- to the amusement of all, including the abbot & with his blessing no doubt.

Our Lord said: “Let him who would be the chief among you, be the least of all and the servant of all!”
This true humility is what Christ expects, from us all, but most especially from all of His ordained clergy, but here expressed by the words and actions of a jester, a “Fool for Christ’s Sake”.
Only the truly humble, may hope to come close to God, and to enter the Kingdom of God, while pride sends us to Hell, to be forever with Satan, the Father of Pride-the root-cause of all sins despicable to God.
And as recorded from world history: even pagan conqueror of the then known world, Alexander the Great of Macedonia, always had next to him, close to his ears, a special servant, his jester, who was instructed to frequently repeat loudly the following words to him: “But remember! that thou art mortal!”
