Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia

The Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR) was founded in November of 1920, with the blessing of the Supreme Church Authority in Russia - at a joint session of the Holy Synod and the Supreme Church Council, under the chairmanship of St. Patriarch Tikhon (Decree № 362). The reason for the formation of an independent church administration abroad was that due to hostilities and the establishment of a natural border, communication with Patriarch Tikhon became impossible. Patriarch Tikhon himself was isolated and subjected to great pressures from the Soviet authorities.

The Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia was founded not arbitrarily, but canonically, legally - by the decree of the Supreme Church Authority.

This administration was recognized by all Local Churches and appealed to it as a representation of the Russian Church, since communication with Patriarch Tikhon was impossible.

After the death of Patriarch Tikhon in 1925 in the USSR, it was impossible to convene a Council and to form a canonical ecclesiastical authority, therefore, there were different hierarchs at the head of the Church administration, placed there not through the canonical, conciliar way, but "by designation". One of those "by designation" primates- a former Renovationist/heretic; Metropolitan Sergius (Stragorodsky), unable to withstand the pressure from the Soviet authorities- surrendered and submitted to them. In 1927, he issued a Declaration which testified to his complete submission to the communist authorities. Because of this betrayal, the ROCOR ceased its declarative submission to the center in Moscow, and, since then, has nothing to do with the Moscow administration. At the same time, the ROCOR preserved its spiritual unity with the persecuted Catacomb Church in the USSR, which also broke all ties with the "soviet church". Some parts of the Catacomb Church even declared an anathema on this "Soviet church".

One of the consequences of the subordination to the God-warring government was Metropolitan Sergius' (Stragorodsky) statement of February 15, 1930, in which he renounced all of Christ's martyrs and confessors, saying that there was no persecution of the Church in the USSR, and that all the priests and believers held in prisons and camps are there not because of their faith, but because of criminal offenses. This is the belief of the "Soviet church"- according to her primate- that there was not, and there is not one martyr nor confessor. This statement has not been denounced by the MP to this day.

On September 4, 1943, at a meeting with three "loyal" metropolitans, for political reasons and for the fulfillment of the demands of the allies in the war, Stalin decided to form an "Orthodox Church" subordinate to himself. Therefore, on September 8, 1943, according to his instructions- a Bishops' Council, made up of 19 bishops who were inclined to compromise, was held. (In 1917, the ROC had 163 bishops. In 1942 there were 28 left in the MP - not counting the foreign and catacomb bishops.) They "elected" the "Patriarch" Sergius (Stragorodsky), appointed by Stalin, and, as a result- the current Moscow Patriarchate was administratively founded.

The Moscow Patriarchate was formed on September 8, 1943, uncanonically, according to the will of the Communist dictator Joseph Stalin, who is its founder.

It was a schism in the Russian Orthodox Church, planned and implemented by the godless Communist government. This schism was initially completely under the control of the Soviet government, which set as its ultimate goal the complete destruction of religion.

The Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia did not recognize this new administration, nor any of the subsequent "patriarchs" assigned by the Soviet authorities. After the war, a process of pressure and bribery by the Kremlin through the Moscow Patriarchate began, of the Primates of the Local Churches. Also, as a result of the active ecumenical participation of these primates themselves, intercommunication between ROCOR and the Local Churches was severed.

Since the ROCOR in the USSR was regarded as an anti-Soviet organization, the communist authorities did everything possible to discredit and abolish it. After the fall of the "iron curtain" from the former USSR, streams of Soviet people flooded the border, which then filled the parishes of the Church Abroad. As a result of these circumstances, the Kremlin has increased its efforts to eradicate our Church, with these efforts of eradication being led by President Vladimir Putin himself.

On May 17th 2007, the union of a part of the ROCOR with the Moscow Patriarchate was signed, despite the fact that the MP did not renounce that which was originally the reason for its separation from the ROCOR; however, on their part, the traitors shamefully renounced the past of the Church Abroad, and all of its Decrees and Resolutions in relation to the Moscow patriarchate. That is, those who went with the union, signed an Act of renunciation from the whole path of the ROCOR Fathers, for the sake of joining the MP.

The Russian President Putin then said that only now the Civil War had ended, a war in which, respectively, the side of the Soviet power had won. At the same time, the Moscow Patriarchate recognized the Russian Church Abroad as canonical and not schismatic, despite the many years of slander. But, thank God - not all the members of the Church Abroad went with the union. The part which remained, is the part which has remained true to the behests of its Fathers and the Fathers of the Catacomb Church. The Church which remains faithful to Sacred Tradition, contains an uninterrupted continuity with the Church beginning with the times of Prince Vladimir up until our day, while the Moscow Patriarchate - at the moment of its formation, through an alliance with Stalin - fell away from the Body of Christ.

In all of its history, the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia never fell into a schism, heresy or any other deviations, and to this day- remains the true guardian and successor of Holy Orthodoxy in its Russian tradition.

We have the freedom to choose, concerning the matter of reunification with other parts of Russian Orthodoxy, and in particular, with the Moscow Patriarchate. But we do not consider it possible to reunite with her, because she has departed from the path of the Holy Fathers and now remains: 1) in theheresies of ecumenism (that is, her leadership believes that it is necessary to unite with all heretics condemned by the Fathers of the Ecumenical Councils and the Fathers of the latter times, and, respectively, prays together with heretics despite the Church Canons and Rules), 2) in Sergianism (dependence on external political and anti-Christian forces- a consciously chosen lack of freedom in its actions and decisions), and 3) in the infliction of moral and spiritual corruption (decay) of her higher hierarchy.

The Russian Church Outside of Russia sincerely desires a complete recovery for the Moscow Patriarchate from everything that was introduced into it by the godless communist authorities. Remembering the words of the Apostle Paul: "A man that is an heretic, after the first and second admonition reject; Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself." (Titus 3:10-11), the ROCOR does not consider the salvation of one’s soul to be possible in whichever "heretical, depraved and sinful" community.

Therefore, according to the apostle's admonition, and "having turned away from heretics"- we stand in fraternal eucharistic unity with those who have preserved in purity the traditions of the Holy Fathers, including the like-minded with us in the faith Old Calendar Churches of Greece, Romania and Bulgaria.

 Proviso:
Unfortunately: To get each separate historical Russian language original KGB secret document on the long list below, in English, one must put each of them, individually,  through the machine translator: "Translate this from Russian to English",  to read them in  a good English......unless someone knows of a better method- to mass translate them all at one time?

If so, please let me know how to accomplish this.

I only now discovered this fact, sorry. For English-only  readers, this only makes the learning process slower.

Documents: The founding by Joseph Stalin of the Moscow PatriarchateAuthor: Metropolitan Agafangel. Publish Date: . Category: Moscow Patriarchate..

Documentary evidence.

Documentary evidence that the current Moscow Patriarchate does not continue the historical Russian Orthodox Church, but was founded on September 8, 1943 by Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin.

The most terrible thing that the God-fighting power has done in Russia is the appearance of the "Soviet church" which the Bolsheviks presented to the people as the true Church, driving the Orthodox Church into catacombs and concentration camps.

Metropolitan Filaret (Voznesensky), from a letter to TheIst of Victor Potapov dated June 26 / July 9, 1980
It is known that after the death of Patriarch Tikhon in 1925 in the USSR it was impossible to convene the Church Sobor/All-Russian Church Council and restore church power in a canonical, legal way, that is, by the Resolution of the CANONICAL Council of the Local Russian Church. Therefore, at the head of the Church administration were different, rather random hierarchies, set forcibly, "by will." One of these leaders "by will" - the former updater Metropolitan Sergius (Stragorodsky), could not withstand the pressure of the Soviet government, surrendered and obeyed it. In 1927, he issued a Declaration in which he testified to his complete submission to the communist authorities, which served to divide the Russian Church. Because of this Declaration, the Russian Church abroad and the Catacomb Church at home were interrupted with the management of Metropolitan Sergius. Despite the fact that Metropolitan Sergius dutifully fulfilled all the desires of god-fighting power, his position and the position of the parishes under his control was in a very deplorable state, as the Soviet authorities persistently led the cause to the complete destruction of faith in God in the territory of the USSR, and there was almost no chance of survival of the structure headed by him.

This situation changed radically in September 1943, when dictator Joseph Stalin for political gain decided to form a subordinate "Orthodox Church." To do this, Stalin, in the schism controlled by Metropolitan Sergius, established his hierarchy of power - at the bottom a responsible person among the clergy - the patriarch of Moscow and all of Russia Sergiy (Strogorodsky). His immediate boss was the chairman of the Council for the Russian Orthodox Church under the government of the USSR G.G. Karpov, who himself did not make decisions on important issues, but was the only mediator between the Soviet government and the Moscow Patriarchate. In turn, Karpov was subordinate to the Soviet government - the apparatus of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR under the chairmanship of the deputy chairman of the Soviet Union's federal committee, V.M. Molotov. Molotov at that time was the highest authority of the executive power for the Moscow Patriarchate. At the same time, the Moscow Patriarchate continued to be under the supervision and tutelage of the NKVD-KGB bodies - the same Karpov, being the chairman of the Council for the Russian Church, was simultaneously the head of the 5th Division of the 2nd Directorate of the NKGB-MGB of the USSR and was subordinate to the Minister (narco) of state security V.S. Merkulov, from whom he also received instructions and orders.
The priority area of activity of the newly formed Moscow Patriarchate, according to Stalin's plan, was to be international relations and the creation "through their channels" of a positive image of the USSR in the eyes of free countries, as well as raising the patriotic spirit of the population in the conditions of war within the USSR. Also, very importantly, the Soviet government in this way gained full control over the newly formed structure, which it did not have in the Catacomb and Foreign parts of the Russian Church. The leadership of this structure (episcopate) received the privileges and privileges of the Soviet nomenclature, which they used and enjoyed up to the present day. Although the organization under the jurisdiction of Metropolitan Sergius has widely advocated in favor of the USSR in the political arena before, since the adoption of the declaration in 1927, but now this activity has reached a new stage. According to some information, Stalin's meeting with the next newly elected patriarch Alexius (Simansky) was devoted exclusively to the political tasks facing the MP.

Stalin decided to organize the MP on September 4 (in fact, On September 5 at night), and two days later, i.e., on September 8, this decision was carried out through the bishop's cathedral of 19 bishops they had chosen (there were 28 bishops at that time).
Such actions, of course, cannot be called canonical and lawful from the point of view of church law. There is a church norm under which a bishop who has gained ecscopal authority in the church with the help of worldly superiors "may he be erupted and excommunicated, and all who communicate with him" (see Ap.30; I'm all. 4; VII All. 3; Laodik. 13). In this case, we are talking not just about "worldly superiors" but about god-fighting power, which aims to destroy the very faith in God in the USSR.
The formation of the Moscow Patriarchate further confirmed the schism in the Russian Orthodoxy, as a result of which the true Church of Christ was represented by free, independent from the God-born parts of the Russian Church - the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad and the Catacomb Church in the USSR, which because of persecution had no connection with each other.

* * *

All subsequent "Soviet patriarchs" were elected and supplied exclusively by the Soviet authorities. According to Konstantin Kharchev, Chairman of the Council for Religious Affairs in 1984-1989: "No candidate for the position of bishop or other high position, be it a member of the Holy Synod, received it without the approval of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and the KGB." Below is a document on the election of Patriarch Alexis I, which leaves no doubt about the nature and methods of such election. The Russian Orthodox Church Abroad rightly did not recognize any of these patriarchs.

Documentary "Stalin and the Third Rome"

From about 31 minutes of the film - about the bribery of Stalin Eastern Patriarchs: the Soviet patriarch Alexi Simansky received from Stalin to bribe the patriarchs, except icons and panagia from museums, 200,000. dollars, of which the Alexandrian Patriarch received 25,000 dollars. dollars, and Jerusalem - 35. It goes on to say that Constantinople received 50,000. dollars, but not of that money, but through the Soviet Embassy. The film goes on to say that the money was allegedly not enough to bribe. But it is not said that they were enough for the corrupt Greek patriarchs to stop communicating with the ROCO and fully recognize the Moscow Patriarchate. This is, in fact, the fact of moral decay and introduction to the heresy of the Sergianism of all eastern patriarchs.

From the Scriptures
God worship your God and serve Him alone (Mf 4.10; Lk 4.8).
No one can serve two masters: for one will hate and the other will love; or one will work hard, and the other will not care. You can't serve God and Mammon (Mf 6.24; see Lk 16.13).

Do not bow to someone else's yoke with the infidels, for what is the communion of righteousness with lawlessness? What does light have in common with darkness? What is the agreement between Christ and Veliar? Or what complicity is true with the infidel? (2Kor 6.14-15).

Church canons about such actions
Apostolic rule 30: "The bishop who, the worldly leaders, has used, will receive the bishop's authority in the church through them: may he be erupted and excommunicated, and all who communicate with him." (see also I All. 4; VII All. 3; Laodik. 13).

Apostolic rule 34: "The bishops of every people should know the first in them, and recognize his yako chapter, and nothing exceeding their power is done without his reasoning: do to each only what concerns before his diocese, and to the places belonging to it. But the first nothing does without the reasoning of all. For tacos will be unanimity, and God will be famous for the Lord in the Holy Spirit, the Father and the Son, and the Holy Spirit." (see also I All 4, 6, 7; II All. 2, 3; III All. 8; IV All. 28; The trul. 36, 39; Antiochus. 9).
