Memorial Archbishop Anthony of San Francisco

Archbishop ANTONI (Medvedev), West American and San Francisco) († 2000)

September 23, the date of Reader Daniel's death, is also the memorial of the repose of the (blessed) Archbishop Anthony of San Francisco (2000†).  This bishop was an important key part of Reader Daniel's life.   His support was a comfort to Daniel who suffered as a victim of pervert Fr. Herman Podmoshensky's lies and slanders.  

Vl. Anthony had conducted an investigation into the accusations against Fr. Herman, and eventually he came to believe the testimonies.  After testifying, Reader Daniel lived the rest of his life on Fr. Herman's black list, causing him to be shunned and to be isolated in a not-good way, in a way that was harmful.

Eternal memory!

The reader Daniel in ROCOR from the age of 17, rejected the union with the MP and has always been our great supporter. He lived alone in the mountains, equipped a house church. Many people remember him through e-mail newsletters in which he distributed materials about our Church and his English translations of articles from the Internet Sobor.  The Kingdom of Heaven to the servant of God, the reader Daniel!

Memory Eternal

The servant of God, Daniel reposed Saturday September 23, 2023 at 7 PM California time in Roseburg Medical Center with his neighbor and close friend at his bedside.  He was one month away from his 80th birthday.  May God make his memory to be eternal!

Cause of death: septic shock from ut infection

Arrangements are being made with local Funeral Home in Roseburg for him to be transferred down to Kelseyville.  As far as we know, the funeral will be at St. Gregory of Sinai monastery and burial in the monastery Orthodox section of the small local graveyard, where some faithful are already interred. 

Please offer alms on Daniel's behalf.  Daniel was intensely loyal to the ROCOR all his Orthodox life, from when he converted as a teenager.  Alms money can be distributed through the ROCOR can be collected by:
