По благословению Высокопреосвященнейшего Митрополита Агафангела Первоиерарха Русской Православной Церкви Заграницей 4/17 января после вечернего богослужения на Крещенский сочельник в Свято-Иоанновском женском монастыре состоялись два пострига в монашество: инокини Елизаветы и инокини Серафимы.  With the blessing of His Eminence Vladyka Metropolitan Agafangel the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, on January 4/17, after the evening service on  Theophany Eve in the St. John's Women's Monastery, two nun tonsures were taken into the monastic life: the Nun Elizabeth and the Nun Seraphima.  К сожалению, из-за прошедшего накануне сильного снегопада Владыка Агафангел не смог приехать в монастырь. Unfortunately, because of the previous heavy snowfall, Vladyka Agafangel could not come to the monastery. По благословению Владыки Митрополита постриг совершил иеромонах Иаков. With the blessing of Vladyka Metropolitan, Monk-Priest Jacob performed the  tonsures. . Чин пострижения прошел торжественно и был большой радостью для всех насельниц.  The  celebratory  spirit of the tonsures was solemn and was a great joy for all the sisterhood.. Как сказал в своем слове отец Иаков, каждый раз, участвуя в постриге, мы все переживаем это великое событие снова, снова вместе с постригаемыми произносим обеты Господу.  As Father Jacob spoke in his sermon, every time we participate in a new monastic tonsure, we monastics all personally experience this great event once again, as we together with those newly tonsured, again repeat our own  original vows to the Lord. Сестра Елизавета в монашестве получила имя в честь преподобной Мелании Римляныни, а сестра Серафима в честь девы мученицы Лукии Сиракузской.  . .Sister Elizabeth in monasticism received her [new] name in honor of the Righteous  Melania the Roman, and Sister Seraphim, her [new] name  in honor of the Virgin Martyr Lucia of Syracuse.  Частицы мощей этих святых находятся в монастырском храме.  Particles of the relics of these saints are in the monastery church. Все сестры постоянно обращаются к этим святым за молитвенной помощью. All the sisters constantly turn to these saints for prayerful help. В дни памяти этих святых в монастыре совершается полиелейная служба.  On the days of the memory of these saints, in the monastery a polyeleion service is performed.
