Sadly this information should not surprise us. It means the failure of our democratic myths, that...we the people, the free and well informed electorate,  control the government, through our political process, mainly by our VOTING, and that thus, it ....those elected to office, ...automatically (?), does OUR bidding, it is our servant, etc. (ha!ha!), ...the world-wide, propaganda slandering  of political opponents, exaggeration or blurring of issues, sending out [ virtually  multiple times per day], false 'polling results', and other outright lies, -meant to sway the public's perception of events and issues and political figures, and on and on and on, can easily be electronically accomplished by those, 'hackers',  who have the internet skills to send out such false information. And regrettably,  so many believe, without doubting,  whatever they read on the internet, or  see on their televisions, or in the major news networks, without questioning it. Years ago, the common ...overly trusting and na├»ve, American expression put it: 'I only know what I read in the newspapers!'. Now it is the TV and the fewer and fewer read newspapers...or books, and worst of all, so few THINK FOR THEMSELVES or guide their decisions on Christian morality.
This certainly works well for V. Putin.
And then there is the end results of the long drawn out, political campaign and voting process: the final COUNTING of the votes....mostly done these days, by computers,...and then the announcements of the winners.....
'for greater accuracy' !.....computerized machines wouldn't ....couldn't.....lie to us, would they!?Emoji

And remember the famous quote of Uncle Joe Stalin on the subject of voting:
"It doesn't matter who votes, it only matters who... counts the votes!"Emoji
